A
40-year-old man was referred by general physician for USG local part (right
lumbar region) I/V/O mild local swelling and intermittent pain. There was a
history of local trauma over right lumbar region 6 months back.
Findings
and discussion:
On B mode
USG:
There is
increased echogenicity of the subcutaneous fat is noted due to the edema of the
fatty tissue s/o inflamed fat.
Multiple
anechoic small cystic lesions noted with adjacent edematous fat s/o oil cysts.
Underlying
muscles and bone appear unremarkable.
On color
Doppler:
Mildly
increased vascularity is noted within the inflamed echogenic fat.
Key
points:
1) H/o trauma
2) Inflamed/ echogenic subcutaneous fat
3) Oil cysts.
