ABDOMINAL KOCH’S
A middle age female with weight loss, intermittent fever and abdominal pain since last few months.
Findings and discussion:
The ultrasound shows pulled up contracted caecum and thickened ileo-caecal junction with dilated terminal ileum.
Thickened fallopian tube was also noted in pelvis.
On the basis of this ultrasound findings, diagnosis of abdominal tuberculosis was made.
Key-point in diagnosing abdominal Koch’s: Ileo-caecal junction thickening with pulled up contracted caecum are key findings in diagnosing abdominal Koch’s. Sometimes, necrotic abdominal lymphadenopathy, omental and peritoneal thickening can be seen.
